Welcome to our very first blog post - we've decided to share some of what we've learnt on our journey of being a startup marketing agency... Enjoy!

Welcome to Kreative Marketing Agency - founded last year in October, we’ve been in operation for a good few months and wanted to share what we’ve learnt along our journey, as a budding startup in the city of London.

While there is so much we could write on this particular topic (as we're sure other agencies and startups alike would have tons of things to state when speaking on what they've learnt!)  we’ve condensed it down to the top 10 things that we’ve learnt along the way:

1. Go for it

There are so many  things you can think of which will stop you or hold you back, but we all know that most of the time it’s about taking the risks on board and just simply going for it! There will never be a perfect time and you can learn as you go - but at least you’ve started and have got something to work with and mould into your very own.

2. Never stop learning

Knowledge is wealth - a line we have all come across before. Rich in truth as well - the more knowledge you seek in your particular area of interest or business, the more you will flourish if applied correctly. Reading blog, books, articles, magazines, watching online seminars and event attending workshops, will only enhance your ability to create meaningful content and produce effective results.

3. Be consistent

Being consistent is always key, but can be a challenge especially as a startup or solopreneur when everything falls onto your lap,  with a never ending to-do list! Trying to plan ahead and stay consistent can help with your time management - even if it's planning social media or blog posts in advance, producing consistent content shows you are knowledgeable and have a lot of relevant information that is also valuable to your clients and audience.

4. Do your research

Research! Research! Research! It’s vital to do thorough research on other startups or small businesses in your field, as well as the bigger names out there. Seeing what has already been done, how and why and thinking about what you can learn and apply to your own ideas. Knowing your market, industry and target audience is so, so important in ensuring you are delivering a product or service that is not only desired but more importantly- valued.

5. Reach out and engage

Building a social media community not only involves posting great content, but actually engaging and talking to your audience! This will not only show that your company is active and current - but will show that you/ your team are a real person/ people and not just an automated feed with robotic like responses. Being real, genuine and social is what will keep your audience engaged and interested - so don’t shy away from connecting with others and sparking new conversations!

6. Connect with your local community

Your local community is a great place to start outreach and engagement. If you are a startup or small business owner, it's definitely worth getting to know your local community for other businesses to network with. This will also enhance your chances of gaining potential clients locally,  with whom you can build strong solid business relationships. Becoming a valued and trusted member of your local community has many positive benefits in terms of word of mouth recommendations and being a reliable business for locals.

7. Prepare and plan

‘By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail’ -  Benjamin Franklin.

If the necessary preparations are in place it’s likely that failure will arise. Being prepared had many advantages to say the least - preparing for your business or setting goals can help keep you on track and streamline your vision and focus. Without a plan, you will not know where you are and have nothing to go against when growing your business. Goals and plans can change at business booms - but its better to have one you can adapt and revise as you go along.

8. Focus on your own goals

Following on from the above point, being focused on your own goals is crucial in keeping morale and motivation. Of course, sourcing inspiration from others is encouraged in order to stimulate growth and ideas -  but comparing your own journey to someone else’s won't reap much benefit. Keep that tunnel vision and focus on outdoing yourself to reach real growth and progress!

9. Ride the wave - ups and downs

You will definitely experience ups and downs when it comes to setting up your own business!  It’s good to remember that this is perfectly normal and to be expected. There will always be good and bad times but being able to whether the storm and adapt to these ups and downs is what will test your resilience and determination. So prepare for not so great times and focus on finding solutions rather than the problems! Stay positive and remember that this will only add richness to your experience and knowledge.

10. Love what you do!

Probably one of the most important points we’ve raised!  You should love what you do -  after all it has to be one of the key reasons of why you started your business or even came up with the idea?!

Never lose sight of the passion and ambition as it’s what fuels you into putting you’re all in.

We hope you enjoyed our roundup of the top 10 things we’ve learnt along the way.

Share this post if you enjoyed it and let us know your thoughts -  we would love to hear from you!
